Camp His Way is an interdenominational, non-profit camp and
retreat facility located on the shore of Lake Sam Rayburn in Texas.
The camp offers a Christ centered year-round facility for children,
youth and adult groups. Here you will find a refuge to retreat
from the everyday pressures of life. Our goal is to offer a
summer program that will develop a child physically, mentally,
emotionally, socially and spiritually. Our desire is to see
everyone drawn closer to God and to enjoy His creation.
Why Camp?
Camp His Way is an interdenominational, Christ-centered camp program. The
Camp offers a place to retreat from the everyday pressures of life - to unwind,
regroup and refuel. The main purpose of the Camp is to provide a camp experience
for children through the summer. Our goal is to offer a program that will
develop a child physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
Our desire is to see children come to know the Lord in a very special way. We
desire that they develop a relationship with Christ that will be a life changing
experience. Our prayer is that God will touch each and every child's life in
such a way that they will leave Camp on fire for the Lord. Our mission will be
to invest in the lives of these children, valuable Biblical principles that will
develop them into Christian leaders.
Who Can Come?
Camp His Way is a non-profit camp and retreat facility located on the shore of
Lake Sam Rayburn. We offer a year round facility for children, youth and adult
groups. In the summer we mainly host kids camp for ages 6-12. Our desire
is to see everyone draw closer to God and enjoy His creation. With training in
environmental technology for outdoor education courses, the camp offers special
programs for home schoolers and all interested private and public schools.
Who is in
Charge?
Dustin and Brittany Ellermann are the directors
of Camp His Way.
Dustin, a cum laude graduate of Stephen
F. Austin in Business Administration moved out to the campground
with his parents in 1996 when it was first founded.
His experience at working at camp over
the years led to him being the full time director in 2005 after he
married Brittany.
Together they have 3 children as well as
opening their home to foster care ministry since 2007.
Who Founded
the Camp?
Rick and Lisa Ellermann, along with their
children Dustin and Risa, had been Children’s
Pastors for twenty years when the call of God
showed them the need for an up
close and personal Christian camp for children.
In the fall of 1995, God gave them the
vision for CAMP HIS WAY.
God has opened many doors that led to
the establishment of the Camp.
Camp His Way was incorporated in April,
1996.
Who is the Camp
Staff? All persons involved
with the Camp are sold out to it as a ministry. Any Camp salaries will be
minimal, as all funds will be used to operate the Camp and maintain a quality
campground. The Camp staff has been totally volunteer. All staff shall be in agreement with the stated purpose of the Camp. All
staff shall demonstrate evidence of good moral character. A criminal records
check must be obtained on all employees. Any person employed by the Camp is
required to hold a valid first aid and CPR certificate.
Where do
the Funds Come From? Camp His
Way, Inc. was created to be a non-profit organization according to the Internal
Revenue Service ruling 501(c)3, obtained August, 1996. There is no intention to
profit from the camp on an individual basis. The only profit expected is for the
kingdom of God to be glorified and increased. The fees charged to each camper
will be based on the actual expense of boarding the camper. Other funds given in
forms of offerings and grants will be used to build and maintain the campground.
How Are Things
Lately?
The summer of 2012 was the 17th summer of activities for
Camp
His Way. Over 11 weeks of camp were booked and over 2,000 campers
were registered. By
the end of the summer, more than 420 children had asked the Lord in
their heart for the first
time. The fall and spring hold numerous weekend retreats with
children and adults enjoying
God’s creation and drawing closer to Him.
